Laura McGee, a member of the Coastal Electric Cooperative board of directors, presented a check today for $1,000 to President Barry Hall of the Exchange Club of Richmond Hill.
“We offer this donation to your club from the members of Coastal Electric Cooperative,” McGee said, “Because the goals and aspirations of this Exchange Club are the same values we embrace at our Co-op.
The Exchange Club is one of the oldest service clubs in Richmond Hill and is devoted to Americanism, community service, youth activities and the prevention of child abuse.
The club organizes several events throughout the year including a parents & kids fishing derby, student of the month, military memorial bricks, public safety officer recognition, support of the YMCA, and the Matthew Freeman Project.
One of the hallmark projects of the Exchange Club of Richmond Hill has been the installation of Freedom Shrines in local schools. A Freedom Shrine is an impressive, permanently mounted collection of 30 of the most important and historic American documents, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and the Gettysburg Address.
