Local students travel to Washington, D.C., for leadership experience of a lifetime

Coastal Elec­tric Coop­er­a­tive is proud to announce our 2026 Wash­ing­ton Youth Tour del­e­gates, who rep­re­sent­ed the co-op on the lead­er­ship expe­ri­ence of a life­time, includ­ing an all-expens­es-paid trip to Wash­ing­ton, D.C.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to (pic­tured, l‑r) Bra­di Ryon from First Prepara­to­ry Chris­t­ian Acad­e­my; James Hood, Lib­er­ty Coun­ty High School; Gabriel Rewis, McIn­tosh Coun­ty Acad­e­my; Gabrielle Mon­de­sir, Rich­mond Hill High School; Lind­sey Green, McIn­tosh Coun­ty Acad­e­my; and Glo­ria Wairagu, Rich­mond Hill High School.

Host­ed June 12–19, these stu­dents joined almost 2,000 oth­ers from across the nation to meet with law­mak­ers, tour his­toric sites and hone lead­er­ship skills that will ben­e­fit them through­out their lives. More details from their adven­tures will be fea­tured in the Jan­u­ary 2027 issue of Geor­gia Mag­a­zine.

Because of our mem­bers’ gen­eros­i­ty, Coastal Elec­tric Coop­er­a­tive del­e­gates also received a $2,500 schol­ar­ship to fur­ther their edu­ca­tion.

Oppor­tu­ni­ties like the Wash­ing­ton Youth Tour are pos­si­ble thanks to gen­er­ous Coastal Elec­tric Coop­er­a­tive mem­bers who allow us to round up their elec­tric bills to the next whole dol­lar through Oper­a­tion Round Up. The Coastal Elec­tric Coop­er­a­tive Foun­da­tion invests those funds in the local com­mu­ni­ty.
